Brandie's LotRO Links
One day I started doing things I wanted, but couldn't find, by myself. Maybe you'll find them useful, too!
Links to here and other places
Databases
- 'Der Widerstand' database (German)
This site is discontinued but still offers loads of helpful information. I especially recommend the great quest guides. They rely mostly on pictures, so you should get the idea even if you don't speak German. You'd have to find out the German snames of the quests though, of course. - lotro-wiki.com
The Wiki needs you!
Playing hints and guides
- Department of Strategery
How did we ever live without it? A visually beautiful blog that focuses on specials (instances, roving threats, events). Very fragmentary, but has been tremendously helpful during the Scavenger Hunt. - Beginners' Gudde by Thornelas
Armour and Weapons
- The old sites are no longer active. Looking for alternatives.
Mobs
- Same here.
Conjunctions
- Conjunction table
by myself - a short explanation and table, with a printable variant. - Conjunction Junction
Beleg's fellowship maneuvers thread, still the best one there is in my opinion. If there's nothing new, it's because conjunctions haven't changed for a while. - A Basic Combat Primer for Fellowships
Beautiful guide by Surlek with discussion.
Classes
-
Not much here anymore as many sites have vanished, but this is still going:
- Warden Gambits
A lovely site for the warden. Especially a warden who, like me, has a tendency to pause playing for a while and forget their gambits. Has a circular gambit map and a gambit trainer!
Dungeons
- Here too, I'm looking for replacements of vanished sites.
Crafting
- lotro-wiki.com/index.php/Crafting
Crafting in the LotRO Wiki. This one looks quite complete already. - lotro-links.de/handwerk.html
My crafting corner - only the cook has been completed so far. Or so it was until some more or less recent game patches.
Maps! I love good maps.
- Arda Online's lovely map that could be switched to a Tolkien-drawn look seems to have gone. If anyone finds it, please drop me a note!
- Almost complete LOTRO Google map. Daniel Moravek has extracted the data from Garan's Terrain Map Plugin. Maps of individual regions are here.
- Arda Maps
Work in progress. Explore timelines and travel routes of famous characters of the 1st and 3rd age. Zoom in for details - Three similar maps...
... that display the changes of Middle Earth through the ages. - Eye candy, yum.
- Map by Tolkien
with annotations transcribed by Pauline Baynes. - Arda as a disc before it was transformed into a sphere.
Helps getting an idea how it may have looked, though there are some anachronisms (Númenor, Orthanc, Minas Tirith...) - Dynamische Karten (ruslotro.com)
Quick-loading individual parchment maps with search filter. - Modified individual maps (thebrasse.com)
Drawn by an ingenious dwarf, these maps are both lovley and useful. Some of them are far more informative than the ingame maps. No search function, but some paths are provided - very helpful for some quests. - Goblin-town by TheBrasse
I particularly love this one. It shows exactly how paths run above and below each other. Anyone who ever got lost in those filthy depths will appreciate this masterpiece. - Goblin-town by Sonnenblume (Widerstand)
Important spots have been marked. - Goblin-town by Dalmir
This is a map for the advanced adventurer. Mark your findings by yourself.
Travel routes
- My map of travel routes
All travel routes at a glance, hopelessly outdated. Working on an update.
Roleplay and style
- Lotrostylist
Devonna's exklusive collection of outfits for hobbits and less fortunate people (German).
Housing and Decoration
- D&Co du Milieu
Much love has gone into this site. It has the most beautiful screenshots of houses and decoration items. There are other little treasures too, like this event calendar. Visit at your own risk, you may not leave soon!
Mounts
- Steeds of Middle Earth
A noble riding stable, presenting the fine animals along with much information on riding.
ABC files (music)
