Festivities in LotRO with Guides

The festivals in LotRO mostly correspond to festivals from pagan religions, with some Christian traditions thrown into the mix. Thus there is no Baby Jesus at the Yule Festival, of course, but compassion and mercy for the poor is a theme that permeates the festivities. Here’s what else there is!

The Spring Festival

The Spring Festival Guide is only available in German as yet; it will be translated in time for next year.

Come to the Breeland Festival Ground to explore the Hedge Maze, help with the party, or visit other festival epicentres around Middle-earth!

LORE: This Festival is a mix of Ostara (spring equinox), Easter, und Bealtaine (pronounced [ˈbjɑːltənjə]) cheerful May feast that celebrates the return of light and nature.

The Anniversary Celebration

The Anniversary Guide is partly translated; it will be finished in time for next year, along with the spoiler-free guide to the Scavenger Hunt.

Midsummer

The Midsummer Festival celebrates the day in the year 3019 TA when Aragorn and Arwen exchanged their wedding vows. All the Free Peoples are invited to Minas Tirith to celebrate with them.
You can now also visit the picturesque holiday island of Furtherholm, which is run by some crafty retired pirates!

The Farmers Faire

Here is the new Guide to the Farmers Faire!

This festival is huge. With the arrival of the Midsummer Festival, the old Summer Festival was merged with the Farmers Faire, so there is an abundance of things to do here. Help people find missing belongings, cool them off, fly kites, and relax at the Fishing Ponds of Bywater and and other locations. If you still feel , cheer your champion at the drinking and eating contests or try your luck at Sandson’s Egg Scramble or Maggot’s Mushroom Hunt!
In 2025, a new festival location was added in Staddle. Ask Humbert Thornburrow in Bywater or Constable Tanglerush in Staddle about it!

LORE: The Hobbits usually speak Westron (the Common Speech), but their names for the days and months are from the old Man Speech. So they call the Summer Festival Lithe (pronounced [ˈliːðə], with a voiced th, from Old English líðe und Modern Englisch lithe) because of the mild summer air. The Elves call it Enedhin, “Midyear”, from enedh “middle” and în “year”. It’s the Feast of the summer solstice.
The Farmers Faire is a mixture of Lughnasadh (pronounced [ˈluːnəsə], a harvest festival) und Mabon (the feast of the autumn equinox and the beginning of the harvest season).

The Harvest Festival

I’m working on the translation of the Harvest Festival Guide; it will be ready in time for the upcoming festival.

Plenty of adventures can be embarked on at the Party Tree and the spooky festival grounds at Wistmet. This guide contains maps for the Haunted Burrow and the Wheat Labyrinth, where it is all too easy to get lost.

LORE: Harvestmath is partly Thanksgiving (in the sense of thanking nature for the yield), partly Samhain (pronouned [ˈsawən]) and Hallowe'en: the day of the (often beloved or venerated) dead, but also evil spirits.

The Yule Festival

The Yule Festival Guide is only available in German as yet; it will be translated in time for this year’s festival.

The Yule Festival attracts wanderers from all over Middle-earth to the fairytale village of Frostbluff. Some people say, though, that not everything is as it seems behind the charming facade. Your help may be needed!
